Final Vow Celebration


On May 23, 2010, the SCJ India District celebrated the profession of Final Vows of Brother Sajeevan Marcelin, SCJ. The ceremony took place at Dehon Bhavan, Kumbalanghy, Kerala, at 10am. The Final Vows were received by Fr. Kusmaryadi, SCJ, India District Superior.

Br. Sajeevan was born in Puluvila-Trivandrum on January 7, 1980. He began as a candidate at Dehon Bhavan seminary, in Kumbalanghy. After studying for his BA at St. Antony’s College, Aluva, he entered the novitiate and took First Vows on May 7, 2003. After his regency experience in North India for one year, Br. Sajeevan joined the theology program in Janampeta, Eluru, Andhra Pradesh. Then, for 3 years he studied Electrical Engineering at the Institute of Technology at Kalamassery, Kerala.

Br. Sajeevan is now assigned to the SCJ Philippine District, where he is studying for a degree at the Institute of Consecrated Life, in Manila.

Acceptance of Postulants and First Profession

On April 30, 2010, the SCJ India District held a welcoming ceremony for ten candidates who joined the postulancy program at Sacred Heart Ashram in Nambur, Andhra Pradesh. This marks a new beginning for the India District postulancy program, which will now be for one year. The program will provide the postulants many opportunities for learning about themselves, within and outside the classroom, as they prepare for entrance to the novitiate.

At 7am on May 1st, the following four novices made their First Profession of Vows:


Raju Dumala: 22 years old, from St. Joseph’s Parish, Kanaparru, in the state of Andhra Pradesh. He became an SCJ candidate in 2003 when he entered Dehon Prema Nilayam seminary in Gorantla, Andhra Pradesh.

Ravi Kumar Dasari: 23 years old, from Eamoni Parish, Vallabhapuram, Andhra Pradesh. He became an SCJ candidate in 2005 when he joined the Senior Aspirant program in Aluva, in the state of Kerala.

Terrance T.J.: 22 years old, from St. Peter’s Parish, Kumbalanghy, Kerala. He became an SCJ candidate in 2003 when he entered Dehon Bhavan seminary, in South Kumbalanghy, Kerala.

Wenceslaus Pinto: 38 years old, from Holy Cross Parish, Cavelossim, in the state of Goa. He became an SCJ candidate in 2005 when he joined the Senior Aspirant program in Aluva, Kerala.
